Your Support

Enabling you to remain independent

Romney Marsh Day Centre supports people who are predominantly active and can manage their own self care. We support a wide age range and whilst we are not commissioned to provide personal care services such as helping people to get dressed or assisting them with their personal toileting however, we will always ensure that emergency situations are fully responded to – and appropriate support given where necessary.

Our ethos at the centre, is to enable people to remain independent. This means that as far as possible we will support, guide and prompt (if appropriate) rather than doing the care for.. and taking away your personal independence. Enabling is all about working with you in a person – centred way.

This means:

You should feel in control and able to participate in how you spend your day at the centre.

You should be consulted about everything that affects you whilst you are at the centre.

You have the right to disagree or say no if you do not like an aspect of your support.

You should not feel compelled to do something that you do not wish to do.

You should feel that you can make a complaint about our service without the fear that you are causing ‘problems’. You should be able to expect that we will respond to your concerns promptly and professionally.

You should always to be able to participate in your own decision making.

You should NEVER feel that you are being a nuisance or ‘causing trouble’.

We offer a bathing service

Our bath is fully adjustable and the person bathing is supported in and out of their bath using an electric ceiling hoist.

Trained members of our staff team will assist you whilst you get your bath. Your personal dignity will be respected at every stage.

A bath costs £15.00. If you would like to discuss the service please give us a call or email and we will arrange to meet with you so that we can fully assess your requirements.

If you have trouble getting to the centre we can also provide accessible transport service to enable you to come for a visit.
