Membership Scheme

members rather than clients

Romney Marsh Day Centre values the people who use its services. We have tried to reflect this by involving the people we support as members rather than ‘clients’

We believe that ‘membership’ is about belonging and taking ownership for the services that are delivered. We want to encourage our members to be stakeholders in the centre and the membership scheme introduced in April 2014 is one way that we can do so.

Membership is optional but we believe it is important to reward our members with discounted member’s prices, a bonus reward system, special offers and it is envisaged, access to a range of premium member services.

We hold monthly members forums where our members are supported by an Enablement Officer to voice their concerns to the Management team and The Board.

Membership costs £15.50 for a full day(£8.50 without transport). This includes the persons transport to and from the centre, a main meal, refreshments and participation in the daily activities programme.

Membership is offered on a daily basis but block booking over a week can attract significant discount in the form of bonus reward points that can be offset against the cost of other member services..

Why have we introduced a membership scheme?
It is a fact that Romney Marsh Day Centre could not continue to offer the level of service it does without a combination of funding sources through subscriptions, grants and donations which ensure that we continue to cover our costs.

Members who have used the Centre for some time will be aware that we used to make up the shortfall in our running costs through a daily tariff or ‘facilities charge’. This charge was introduced to help us to cover the costs of our utilities such as gas, water and electric. However, the facilities charge although necessary, has not been popular. We understand that our members want to see greater value for the money they pay and that’s why in April 2015 we decided to remove the existing facilities charge and introduce an optional membership scheme.
